Many new local debuts at bigger Singapore Motorshow
SINGAPORE - A bigger Singapore Motorshow 2020 opened last Thursday, 9 January 2020, across three floors (as compared to two last year) at the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre, the nation’s largest annual motoring event showcases the best of automotive innovation, alongside a variety of activities and fun-filled family experiences, as well as aftermarket exhibitors showcasing their automotive accessories, lifestyle products and services.
There were more than 20
launches and showcases, from brands including: Alpine, Audi, BMW, BYD, Citroen,
Ducati, DS, Harley Davidson, Honda, Honda Bikes, Hyundai, INFINITI, ISUZU,
Jaguar,, Jeep, KIA, Land Rover, Lexus, Lotus, Maserati, Maxus, Mazda,
Mercedes-Benz, MG, MINI, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault,
ŠKODA, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.
Several new electric car models make their debut, including those from Chinese-owned brands like MG and BYD. BYD introduced the Song Max, which is the first battery-powered multi-seater, available in six or seven-seater form. Audi unveiled its battery-powered e-tron crossover, while Nissan show off a Tokidoki version of its Leaf electric car.
The Singapore Motorshow
sees the first Indian-made passenger car locally, the Kia Seltos crossover.
Other debuts include the Land Rover Defender, Jaguar XE, Toyota Altis, and two
plug-in hybrid cars from Volvo. The show also sees the first Indian-made
passenger car in Singapore, the Kia Seltos crossover. From BMW to Hyundai and
Volkswagen, many names of car brands have wildly offerings. The Land Rover Defender is meant for hardcore
off-road usage and thus a utilitarian approach towards the design and choice of
materials. As this very particular model on display has been making appearance
at countless motor show and events since last September, it may be a little
unfair to associate the level of wear and tear seen with its built quality.
In all, there were some 20 plus new model launches at the show, which runs from Thursday to Sunday. With over 36 brands on display, and precision stunt driving performances, the Singapore Motorshow 2020 is something to look forward to.
